It started as a Summer job. Nate wasn't even sure how it happened. An emergency trip to the bathroom, a chance encounter, and he was hired. Now he worked for her ... Mrs. Mumford, the children's librarian. She was his boss ... and a vampire.

Nate discovers that things aren't always what they seem to be. People can change (monsters can too). When the Washington Memorial Library, a refuge for reformed monsters and one of Nate's favorite places in the world, is threatened by a vengeful monster hunter, Nate risks everything to be the hero that the library needs him to be. The lines between good and evil blur as Nate, along with his friend, Emily, and the library staff, fights to save his coworkers and their sanctuary. What better place than a library to learn the valuable lesson of never judge a book by its cover?

My Boss is A Vampire is only the beginning in the Stories from the Library series!

My take on this book:
Nate enjoys going to the library but he didn't want to work there for the summer because he really believed one of the librarians was a vampire. When that particular librarian hires him for the summer he quickly realizes that things at the library aren't always what they seem. It turns out that several of the people working at the library have a secret and they need Nate's help in order to continue to be safe.

My Boss is a Vampire is a page turning, suspense filled mystery that provides a hearty dose of supernatural that grabs the imagination and doesn't let go. Mr. Carter's choice of words certainly allowed me to imagine the characters and the setting of this story.  The character of Nate was so easy to connect with, I loved that the author provided Nate with a strong female sidekick in Emily. I loved the positive messages that the author provides within the telling of this story, such as not judging a book by it's cover and accepting people for what they are. Plenty of twists made for a page turning read that kept me guessing what might happen next. I loved the cliffhanger ending and can't wait to read the next book in the series. Overall this is a good clean read that will appeal to young and old alike. Anyone who enjoys a blending of paranormal, mystery, suspense along with well written characters will enjoy this one. While this is the first book I have read by John Carter it certainly won't be my last.
